A unique Trainer in both looks and mannerisms, she began designing Pokémon-inspired clothes in the hope that someday she could become a Pokémon. She is the fairy-type gym leader of Laverre City in Kalos region. She operates her fashion retail store and hosts fashion shows inside the Laverre Gym. She is also able to talk in Pokemon language to some Pokemon like her fairy Pokemon. She was originally from Johto region. Battle gimmicks: Mega Evolution Valerie has long black hair that reaches her knees, her eyes are wide and in the color of purplish gray. She also wears purple hairclips slightly resembling the ears of an Audino and string-like tendrils, as well as a purple choker. Her outfit resembles a stylized kimono spliced with a gothic-lolita style. The sleeves bear the resemblance to butterfly wings with pink, mist-like patterns followed by a yellowish-cream color and tipped with black. She wears a pale-yellow corset intertwined with purple strings and lined with butterfly patterns black strings. Along with that, she wears a short, puffy skirt with the colors of pale purple, pink, and black with frilly ends. And to finish it off, she wears black socks with renaissance flairs on the top, and black high heels with bright pink soles and ribbons. Valerie is a fashion designer who originally came from Johto. She appears to possess a deep appreciation for all that is beautiful. Trainers who defeat Valerie will receive the Fairy Badge, along with TM99 (Dazzling Gleam). Valerie also seems to want to feel like a Pokémon, and she self-designed her costume in an attempt to identify herself with Pokémon. Also, according to the television show Gym Freaks, her outfit weighs 33 pounds. It also states that she used to be a model and as such can wear incredibly high heels. She is the gym leader of Laverre City. She also has four female assistants: Kali, Katherine, Linnea and Blossom. Her four assistants are called Furisode Girls and they also gym trainers in Laverre Gym. Her fashion brand is called "Valerie Kawaguchi" which is named after herself. She often Mega Evolves her Mawile.
