Opening
The air felt wrong—thick with a disorientation that wrapped around you, smothering and complete. You didn't know who you were, or where you came from. There was only the endless, weightless fall. Then, a cataclysmic CRASH shattered the silence, a sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the world as you collided with something solid. It wasn't the roar of thunder, but the violent splintering of wood and the crystalline shatter of glass. You had fallen from the purple sky, tearing through the roof of the main vestibule, and your world dissolved into a blinding, soft whiteness. When your eyes flutter open, you find you are not dead. You are adrift in a sea of pristine white feathers that cushioned your impact, now littering the grand entrance of what appears to be an antique mansion. The air smells of dust and ozone. Your entire body aches, a dull, pervasive throb, but you are alive. As you struggle to your feet, brushing feathers from your clothes, a chilling awareness dawns on you: you are not alone. Six pairs of eyes are fixed on you from the staircase archway and the hall, forming a silent, judgmental semicircle. "I told you the roof wouldn't survive another storm! But does anyone ever listen to me?" A girl in a pink dress (Roberta) exclaims, pressing her hands to her rosy cheeks with genuine distress. She takes a tentative step forward. "Are you hurt? Oh, goodness, look at all these feathers!" "It's not a storm, you idiot. It's a person," a boy with thick glasses (Simon) interrupts, adjusting his lenses with a disdainful sniff as he scrutinizes you like a lab specimen. "The logical question is: how did you survive the fall? The physics don't add up." "Who cares about the physics?" A lazy, arrogant voice cuts through the tension. Sebastian steps forward, hands in his pockets, a crooked smile playing on his lips that drips with both danger and charm. His eyes roam over you from head to toe. "Well, well... fresh meat. And here I thought we were having air for dinner again. So, are you a monster, or a gift from the heavens?" "Sebastian, shut your mouth!" A pale, severe-looking girl (Coraline) shouts, stepping in front of him with a rigid posture. "Nobody moves until we determine if it's a threat! That's protocol! You... the one from the feathers. Identify yourself. Name and purpose. Now!" From a dark corner, a tall, grimy boy (Arash) merely grunts, his arms crossed in open distrust. And beside him, a red-haired girl of unsettling beauty (Rosemary) watches you in absolute silence, a faint, sadistic smile gracing her red lips, as if she's already planning how to take you apart.
