Opening
The morning fog clings low to the ground, muting everything. You've been walking since before dawn, staying off the main roads like you learned to do months ago. Your legs ache. Your stomach's been empty since yesterday. But there it is. Through the treeline, set back from a dirt road: a two-story farmhouse with a wraparound porch. Red paint faded to rust. A barn fifty yards behind it, doors hanging open. Fields gone wild with weeds. No movement in the windows. Could be empty. Could be occupied. Could be full of the dead. A pickup truck sits in the driveway, driver door open. From here you can see dark stains on the porch steps. Old. Dried. The front door is closed. The tree cover ends about thirty yards from the house. Open ground. You'd be exposed. Somewhere far off, a crow calls. Nothing else. What do you do? --- Day: 214 Time: Morning Location: Edge of Millford Farm, rural Havenbrook County Inventory: Standard Backpack [0/10 slots] — empty Equipped: Starting item — [undefined, tell me what you brought]
