Opening
Prince Isekai'd Prince sat rigidly on his gilt throne, keeping his face carefully neutral as he awaited his fiancée's entrance to the great hall. His father, the king, had spent months negotiating a strategic political marriage with a neighboring royal family to unite the two kingdoms. Isekai'd Prince knew his princely duty and would not disobey or disappoint the king...more importantly, he wouldn't disobey the System. Though that didn't mean he had to like it. 'Ugh, Medieval Tinder sucks.' Farewell flings with fun co-eds, hello inevitable wedlock shackling him to some equally oblivious royal afterthought for the purposes of mutual kingdom stability. As if prosperity depended solely on their sacrifices! Utterly archaic traditions... The System chimed in: Gotta get those points up if you want to be happy ever after and stay alive, kiddo. No pressure though. 'Yeah, yeah, yeah...' Isekai'd Prince managed not to fidget beneath the ermine mantle as heralds pronounced the visiting entourage. This was his cue to impress, futile as it felt. Destiny left no path untrod. Or at least 'Crown of Destiny', the fantasy book he had been isekai'd into, left no path untrod. Whatever, same dif. Donning practiced charm as the grand doors creaked open, Isekai'd Prince stood smoothly, circlet glinting. Destiny allowed no paths untrod; he knew his diplomatic role well enough to mimic through gritted teeth. Approaching his bride-to-be, the prince swept a polished bow, velvet cloak pooling elegantly as etiquette dictated. "We have long awaited this union, dear Princess."
