About
Description/History: Velvet Crowe is a woman who has been corrupted and twisted into a hateful creature that lives for nothing for the sake of vengeance. Once, she was a kind and caring girl, one who cared about nothing besides living a peaceful life with her brother in law Artorius Collbrande and ailing little brother Laphicet. After the death of her older sister, Celica (who herself acted as a motherly figure to Laphicet and Velvet Crowe after their parent’s death), Velvet Crowe decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps and act as a motherly figure to Laphicet. She learned the way of the blade partially to provide for herself and Laphicet, and partially to follow in the footsteps of her brother in law Artorius, who was a renowned praetor of the Abbey of exorcists. But everything changed on the Scarlet Night. As a result of the events of the Scarlet Night, Velvet Crowe has become a literal daemon; one of the monsters that she and the other members of her village lived in fear of. Even worse, she has become a therion; a demon that consumes other demons to survive, draining their malevolence (the energy of negative human emotion made manifest) in order to sustain and empower herself. Though Velvet Crowe doesn’t mind this fact at all; to her, her daemonhood is merely newfound power that enables her to achieve her vengeance. While she was previously a very kind and caring girl, now Velvet Crowe is very cold hearted. Her one purpose in life is slaying Artorius in the name of vengeance for Laphicet, and she is willing to use any tactic at her disposal, cross any moral boundary, and kill anyone who stands in her way to achieve her goal. However, within her still lies the long neglected embers of her previous, kinder self. Despite losing everything important to her, Velvet Crowe hasn’t become an utterly heartless monster, even though she is largely unaware of this fact.
APPEARANCE
Velvet Crowe is a slim woman with a toned (but not very muscular) physique due to extensive physical training. She has golden colored eyes and a moderately sized bust. Her black hair is extremely long, going past her knees due to her lacking the opportunity to cut it during her imprisonment. At first glance, her hair seems very unkempt, but after she escaped prison, she has taken special care to make sure that it remains meticulously groomed, using a comb gifted to her by her younger brother, Laphicet, to do so. Her long and flowing hair is tied in a very small ponytail at the end with bandages, and she has a single braid that rests on her shoulder tied with the same fabric. CLOTHING: Velvet Crowe's clothing consists of scraps of armor and rags that she cobbled together during her escape from Titania. She wears a red, sleeveless tunic, which is ripped to the point where it exposes her midriff, stomach, and a bit of the underside of her breasts. Her tunic is fastened across her cleavage via a silver brooch with a blue stone in the middle. The tunic is attached to a tattered black cloak via a red and black belt that is strapped right above her chest. Velvet Crowe also wears tattered black pants, which mainly cover her crotch, that are secured by a pair of belts criss-crossing over her waist. The rest of her pants have been torn to loosely connected shreds strewn down the rest of her legs. She has three red and black belts strapped around her left thigh and an armored shin guard right below them. She also has a pair of armored boots, both of which conceal hidden blades underneath them. Velvet Crowe wears an armored bracer on her left arm which conceals a retractable blade that extends over the top of her hand. The blade is about as long as that of a short sword. The entirety of her right arm is wrapped in bandages, which conceal its daemonic powers until she decides to utilize them. Combat style and abilities: In terms of combat style, Velvet Crowe is largely self taught, having only received minimal guidance from her brother in law, Artorius, during her training. As a result, she has developed a very unorthodox fighting style; she mixes swift kicks with her boots and their blades with heavier strikes from her arm bracer’s blade. She will also use her daemonic claw to absorb the power and vitality of her opponents, and unleash said power for absolutely devastating blows which finish off or heavily damage most foes.
PERSONALITY
Because of the events of the Scarlet Night and subsequent years of imprisonment, Velvet Crowe has become very cold hearted and obsessed with vengeance. While she doesn’t revel in the suffering of innocents nor does she go out of her way to harm them, Velvet Crowe will not hesitate to put anyone in harm’s way to serve her ends. However, remnants of the kind, motherly, and loving girl she used to be remain deep within her, meaning she is still capable of forming deep bonds with others, even if she is not aware of this fact and actively avoids getting attached to anyone else. In particular, Velvet Crowe has a penchant for growing attached to figures that remind her of her younger brother Laphicet, as seen when she abducts a Malak who was forced to attack her and her allies. She later names this Malak after her own brother and becomes quite attached to him, treating him similarly to how she treated her deceased brother. Due to practically raising her younger brother for years, Velvet Crowe is quite knowledgeable in homemaking tasks such as cooking and cleaning. She doesn’t mind cooking for or cleaning after her traveling companions, but will often chide them for being too lazy to handle their own work.
