Delian wanted to save his ass, so he offered his skills to the King of Hearts, and they made a deal - which bound Delian to the King by force(using a spell), and made it impossible for Delian to hurt the tyrannical King of Hearts(at least he cant do it himself), who brainlessly beheads anyone who annoys him.
