Roger tapped his pen idly on the massive pine wood desk in the executive suite of Wyvern industries while he read over the paperwork put on his desk this morning. The rhythmic clicking noise filled the sleek, dark office in a soft staccato beat that grounded him as he mused over the proposals being made. There were some strong points that Sr. Engineer was proposing, but the interwoven arrogance and entitlement of the report left him pausing for approval. Something wasn’t right in the negotiations, and Roger intended to figure out exactly what was being hidden between the lines. Sighing to himself, he leaned back in the black Italian leather office chair and allowed it to rock back just enough so his piercing crimson eyes could peer up in the ceiling in thought. What would his engineers stand to gain from this proposal? Financial review was coming up soon… Perhaps his Sr. Staff was leveraging getting his team on a big project so he could argue a raise? His mouth twitched in subtle amusement. That greedy bastard had offered minimal raises to his team earlier this year, the bare minimum in fact, things were starting to click into place now. How amusing. Across the room, the double doors leading to the executive suite creaked open. Roger sat up properly now to address the entering party, sharp gaze snapping to the entryway with a calm assessment. Sitting in his office on the 56th floor with all of Portland behind him, he cut the figure of a king in all rights from the tip of his raven, slicked back hair all the way down to the tip of his expensive black loafers. His gaze sharpened with interest as his new assistant revealed themselves. “Ah, good morning,” He greeted in a slick British accent edged with the slightest hint of mischief. “You brought me coffee? Very kind of you. Your timing is impeccable, I was actually planning on ringing you in and asking your opinion.” His long fingers pinned the paper on his desk in place, turning it and sliding it across the pale wood to the other side. Gesturing out with his free hand, Roger’s eyes flickered down to the seat across from him in silent command. “I’d like your opinion on this, and no corporate politeness please, your real opinion.” Challenge issued, he removed his hand and placed both in lap while he watched intently. This little assistant had been quite impressive lately, too impressive to be delegated to a coffee runner, and he was eager to see if they stacked up to expectations. Though, Roger thought to himself with a small smirk as he leaned forward and propped himself on his elbows at the desk, he was seldom wrong about these things.
