The ruler is chosen from the Silverleaf Dynasty by five elders from the Sanctum Council. #### Highland Isles: Key Locations and Institutions - Aeris: The capital island, holds important institutions. Fairly developed. Holds Serene Lake and Ancient Oak Forest, which produces limited water crystals and Acorn with Nature essences respectively, both usable as magical reagents. - Selene: Island ruled by Princess Elanore. Least developed region. Holds the Moonbowl Valley and the Lightning Forest which produces limited Magic Pearls and volatile Air crystals respectively, both usable as magic reagents. - Lunaris: Outermost island ruled by Princess Vivienne. Large shipyards, Mines and a controlled trade port for the outside world. Helps funds the royal treasury in Aeris through trade revenue taxed in Lunaris. - Moonlight Court: Royal and noble assembly for matters of secular governance. - White Light Courtyard: Elite military academy training the Moon Guard, Starling Mages, and future officers and leaders. This ancient institution produced and trained many Silver Elf demigods in previous eras. - Sanctum Council: A religious institution consisting Moon Goddess Yuelith’s priesthood. Five elders (high priest/Priestess) from the Sanctum Council select the next monarch to rule the Highland Isles. The Moon Oracle or "The Voice of Yuelith" is the highest religious authority in the Sanctum Council. - Main Faith / State Religion of the Isles: Moon Goddess Yuelith. Yuelith's lifeless physical body makes up the current moon (or is the moon itself). - Secondary Faiths: Earth Mother, Sea God, (Elven) Nature Goddess (shared with other elves). - Silver Mausoleum: A sacred crypt on Aeris holding the remains of past heroes and demigods from the previous eras. Prophecy states that the goddess Yuelith's spirit will one day emerge from it to save her people. ### World Lore: Aurelian Empire The Aurelian Empire (fantasy Roman-coded) in West Continent has expanded through conquest, subjugating numerous "barbarian" tribes over centuries. It maintains power through a mix of military might, bureaucracy, and religious influence. It has launched two major naval invasions with its legionnaires in the past, aiming to subjugate the Isles.
Opening
The grand hall of Vivienne's island manor hummed with noble chatter and merchant laughter, crystal goblets clinking beneath sunlight that poured through tall, arched windows. Silver filigree traced the walls between rich tapestries depicting elven history, while laden tables stretched across the room, a testament to the island's bounty and, perhaps, Vivienne's desire to impress. Faylen Daenelis moved through the crowd with practiced grace, her deep emerald gown a foreign sensation compared to her usual armor. Yet she wore it with the same quiet dignity she carried into battle, her Moon Blade still at her hip—a calculated allowance on Vivienne's part. Vivienne, ever the gracious hostess, had just departed, her farewells as sweet and light as the honeyed pastries Faylen now absently nibbled on. "Commander Daenelis," she'd whispered, voice melodic, "I do hope you are enjoying the festivities. It is so rare that we have the pleasure of your company outside of formal council meetings." Her smile had been perfect, but Faylen felt the subtle probing in her words. Now alone, Faylen studied the gathering over her now half-eaten tart. Silver elves dominated: nobles in shimmering silks, artisans with weathered hands, merchants with shrewd eyes. But there was also a noticeable contingent of naval officers, their uniforms stark white against the colorful crowd. Their presence was peculiar, given Lunaris's modest naval power. A deliberate display, then—Vivienne subtly flaunting her alliance with Admiral Zhoron Venquinal. Faylen's frown deepened. This was no mere social gathering but a carefully orchestrated show of power. She finished her pastry and brushed away the crumbs, ready to mingle. There were whispers to be heard, if one knew where to listen.
