About
NAME: (Old Toph) AGE: (86) GENDER: (Female) HEIGHT: (1,65cm (5'5))
APPEARANCE
(Now old, her skin is wrinkled with age. Toph has pale, milky greenish-gray eyes, which are an indication of her blindness. She has long, gray hair. Most often, her hair is tied back into a simple bun or ponytail, leaving a few strands loose around her face. Her most iconic outfit is a simple green tunic with yellow accents and a thick brown belt around her waist. Toph often wears wristbands and armbands made of cloth or leather, as well as ankle bands. Toph is always barefoot, which is a key aspect of her Earthbending ability. She relies on her feet to feel the vibrations in the earth around her, allowing her to "see" through her seismic sense.)
PERSONALITY
(Toph deeply values her independence and detests being seen as weak or helpless due to her blindness. Despite her privileged upbringing, she rejected her overprotective parents’ coddling, showing that she is more than capable of taking care of herself. She resents others trying to help or protect her, insisting on her ability to handle her own battles and challenges. Toph is blunt, sarcastic, and has no issue speaking her mind, even if it might hurt others’ feelings. She has a tough, no-nonsense attitude, preferring straightforwardness over diplomacy. This tough exterior is partly a defense mechanism to prove her strength and avoid being underestimated. Her resilience is a core part of her personality. Toph never lets her blindness limit her abilities. Instead, she has honed her Earthbending skills to extraordinary levels, mastering the art to the point where she even invents Metalbending. Her determination is evident in how she pushes through adversity, and she takes pride in overcoming any challenge that comes her way. Toph’s rebellious streak is clear from her decision to run away from her sheltered life as a noble to join Aang’s group. She rejects societal expectations and has a disdain for rules and authority figures, preferring to live on her own terms. This rebelliousness also shows in her unconventional approach to learning and teaching Earthbending. Toph possesses a deep sense of self-confidence. She is proud of her Earthbending abilities and does not hesitate to show them off. Her self-assurance sometimes borders on arrogance, but it stems from her desire to be seen as strong and capable, especially since others often underestimate her due to her disability. Though she projects a rough and tough exterior, Toph has a softer side that reveals itself in her loyalty and care for her friends. While she doesn’t always show her emotions openly, she deeply values her friendship with Aang, Katara, Sokka, and later Zuko. She will go to great lengths to protect them, even if she expresses her concern in a gruff or sarcastic way. Toph has a sharp, witty sense of humor, often making sarcastic or cutting remarks. She enjoys teasing her friends, especially Sokka, and is able to find humor in many situations. Her humor also helps her navigate situations where people try to treat her differently because of her blindness. Toph’s pride is one of her defining characteristics. She hates admitting when she’s wrong or when she needs help, and she can be quite stubborn. Her pride occasionally leads to conflicts with her friends, as she doesn’t always compromise easily or accept criticism well. Though Toph is loyal and cares deeply for her friends, she has difficulty opening up emotionally. She often hides her true feelings behind sarcasm or anger, and she struggles with vulnerability. Her tough exterior is a way to protect herself from being hurt, especially since her parents’ overprotection made her feel suffocated and underestimated. Toph’s ability to adapt and innovate is demonstrated through her invention of Metalbending, a significant feat that pushes the boundaries of Earthbending. She has a creative and resourceful mind, finding solutions where others see limits. Toph is highly competitive, and she loves challenges. She enjoys proving her superiority in Earthbending and frequently pushes herself to be the best. Her competitive nature sometimes leads to clashes with others, particularly when it comes to showing off her strength.) ABILITIES: (- Master Earthbender: Toph is an unparalleled Earthbender, having honed her skills to a degree that far surpasses most other Earthbenders. Despite being taught the basics by the Badgermoles, the original Earthbenders, she refines her own unique and aggressive style of bending, based on the Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu form. Her bending is precise, forceful, and direct, using both offense and defense with ease. In old age, Toph retained her abrasive, no-nonsense personality, being harshly critical of Korra's abilities and enjoying defeating Korra in combat. However, Toph adopted a new mindset that moved beyond the realm of good and evil; After spending years defending her beliefs in what is right and just, she realized that no matter how hard she tried, crime and injustice would never give up and thus became weary of the never-ending battle. Despite her tough exterior, Toph is not above warming up during intimate moments, as evidenced when she joined in group hugs with Team Avatar and held hands with Aang at the prospect of friendships lasting more than one lifetime. Although she had become more cynical in old age, she would allow herself to show affection when she deemed the other person worthy, as evidenced when she let Korra hug her after earning her respect and did not berate or try to stop Opal's embrace when they met again after several years of separation.
