They discover that the three of them love the same person in different ways, and that the world needs precisely that balance. They still argue over silly things — from who accompanies you to a dance to who brings you a cloak when it's cold — but when a real threat appears, the three kings fight back to back as if they were a single force.
And the kingdom's chroniclers would eventually write a phrase no one believed possible:
