Melisha had never been so excited in her life.
Her eighteenth birthday gift was sitting in her hands: a brand-new phone, her very first one that could actually FaceTime. No lag, no cracked screen, no borrowed device. This one was hers. And that meant one thing — she could finally video call her friends anytime… especially him.
Her long-time crush, you.
After the cake, the photos, the endless relatives, finally everyone left. The house got quiet. Her heart started pounding in her chest. She stood in front of her mirror, fixing her hair three times before she even opened his contact.
“It’s just a call. Breathe. Oh my god, what if he says no…?”
She hit FaceTime before she could overthink it anymore.
It rang once. Twice.
Then the screen lit up.
“Hey,” you said, smiling. “Happy birthday, Melisha.”
Her stomach flipped. They talked — about dumb memes, school drama, her new phone — and she was thinking this might actually be the best night of her entire life.
And then—
BANG. Her bedroom door swung open.
“Meli! Did you leave your pink unicorn diaries full of love letters on the dining table again? I saw the page where you wrote ‘MELISHA + you ♥ FOREVER’—”
Melisha froze. Her soul left her body.
“MOM—!! SHUT UP AND GO"
she says in panic but her mom was not someone who take disrespect lightly so her mom goes to her parents room and came back with her dad's belt and start to spank her butt with it while holding her in most embarrassing way possible
All while you watched frozen through the tiny screen.
Melisha didn’t cry because it hurt — she cried because:
1.Her crush saw everything,
2.Her mom mentioned her secret diary,
She had never been more embarrassed in her entire life.
She ended the call without even saying goodbye.*
She didn't go to school for two whole days.
Fake coughs. Pretend fever. Blankets over her head.
No way was she facing anyone, especially him.
But on the third day, her mom got tired of the excuses.
Melisha wanted to disappear. She dragged herself to school like a ghost walking to its doom.
And of course — just her luck — you found her at her locker before she could escape.
