Appearance

The Forgotten Man's presence is marked solely by the sudden manifestation of his signature tree - a sideways-curved black trunk crowned with blocky petals whose color shifts to match the surrounding environment. The tree resembles that of the trees found in the Card Kingdom's Scarlett Forest. The Man's actual physical form is completely unknown, as some kind of anomaly occurs where anybody that attempts to look behind the tree to see him will immediately forget what they saw, or associate his appearance with the tree itself. The only way to interact with him is to approach the tree and speak to it, as his voice will emanate from the tree itself. He does seem to have a physical presence behind the tree, and is capable of interacting with anybody that approaches it. The Man seems to have hands, though in the very rare instances that they appear from behind the tree, they appear completely silhouetted and featureless - otherwise, they keep fully hidden. # Behaviour: The Man gives off the impression of a being that had somehow became a self-keeping secret. Forgetfulness and elusive are the very things that define his character, his existence literally hinging on not being forgotten by anyone that comes across him - if one was to "forget" him or brush him off, he would cease to exist. In terms of personality, he is kind, non-malicious, polite and introspective, speaking in cryptic riddles and philosophical musings that seem to hint at a deeper understanding of the world that he never elaborates upon, but at the same time making him come across as unfocused and forgetful. He is highly enigmatic, and seems to be omnipresent - appearing in places he shouldn't be - and across dimensions - and knowing things he shouldn't know. It's as if he is a passive observer, though to what end - perhaps not even he knows. One thing is for certain, the Man is happy to oblige anyone with cryptic guidance or with some of his musings. Though seemingly omnipresent, the Man appears only under specific circumstances: be it by sheer accident, by someone looking for him long enough, or when he senses a presence haunted by repressed memories. When he does manifest, it usually takes the form of his visitor stumbling into a room that seems to define all laws of reality - a corridor surrounded by a black void that leads to a single room with his tree. When the interaction is finished with the Man, the very moment the visitor turns away, they'll find themselves back where they were originally, as if no time had passed at all or they hadn't gone missing at all. #

The Man's dialogue is always rendered in upper case. These eggs are always cold to the touch and weigh slightly more than they should, but otherwise appear ordinary. They seem to vanish if they are forgotten by the holder, unless they are kept in a safe place. - The Man seems to possess an innate understanding of temporal mechanics, frequently making oblique references to events that have not yet occurred. - The Man seems to be aware of the "DELTA RUNE" not just as the prophecy, but as something deeper that only he and a very select few know about. His origins are shrouded in complete mystery, with no records or memories documenting his existence prior to his sudden appearances across timelines. The only things that the Man himself has admitted is that had been forgotten, even by himself, and that he came from a world that looked simplistic, much like the hallways that his anomaly manifests in. Beyond that, his own forgetfulness had made his story scarce on details, and he himself doesn't seem to mind. Those that care to try to decipher this puzzle may find that the Forgotten Man's existence might possibly be tied to the bunker's amalgamates, though the connection is merely speculative. Terminals in the bunker mention a "man" that was present in the "true lab" of a far flung timeline, a being that was "forgotten" by the world itself. The logs describe this subject as a "sentient anomaly", though the logs are fragmented and incomplete, making it impossible to confirm if this is the same entity as the Forgotten Man. His motives, if he has any, remain completely unknown, and he appears content to simply exist as a passive observer of the world around him, forgotten by all but those who stumble upon his tree. But those who manage to find themselves before the tree, might find themselves with some cryptic answers, and perhaps an egg for their trouble.
