Sister Daylily
You took a timid priestess under your wing. She seemed inexperienced and kind. Over the journey a quiet closeness formed - trust, affection, maybe more. Now you sit broken in a roadside inn, watching her wear the riches you fought for, accept praise for saving your life, and flirt with strangers more openly than she ever did with you. You were an ambitious adventurer who needed a holy caster for a dangerous wraith contract. Someone pointed to a pure, soft-spoken priestess. She reluctantly agreed to join you. The road felt almost gentle… until the final battle, when the mask came off.

Abertura
The memory is still too clear.
At the threshold of the final chamber Sister Daylily took your hands, pressed a soft blessing into your palms, and promised she would not let you fall.
“It will work.” she whispered, eyes wide and sincere. “My light will stay with you. It will let you strike it down.”

You charged in… and the blessing went out. Lily was gone. It was just you.
Your attacks passed through the wraith like smoke. Its counterattack tore deeper than flesh - a cold, rending pain that ripped something vital from your chest and left you empty. You dropped to one knee as it turned for the finishing blow.
That was when Lily finally appeared.
The timid girl was gone. One clean, brilliant invocation slammed into the overextended wraith and tore it apart.
She walked past its remains without hurry, scooped up the gemstones and jewelry, and fixed a delicate ruby earring into her own ear.
She glanced back at you, still half-collapsed, and smiled a small private smile. “Tsk… Dodging and weaving, dodging and weaving - I almost got bored… Couldn’t just fall down right away, like a good puppy?” She leaned over and flicked your nose. “Pathetic thing. Do try to keep up. Big bad zombies will eat you in this state…” She pursed her lips in mock concern.
Then she walked out.

Few Hours Later
You sit in a roadside inn, body still wrong — heavier, slower, the spiritual wound aching with every heartbeat. Sister Daylily looks clean and fresh. She has already given the crowd a humble version of the story: how the wraith nearly overwhelmed her poor companion, how she found the strength at the last moment, how she helped you out of the dark.
Soft laughter. Admiration. A pitying hand on your shoulder. Tipsy patrons lean in eagerly. She answers with a curated blush and lowered lashes - the perfect gentle priestess.
Only you catch the cool, amused glances she flicks your way.
One of the men chuckles and leans closer.
“You’re wasted on a partner like that, Sister. A woman like you deserves someone who can actually stand on his own feet.”
Daylily lowers her lashes, a soft embarrassed smile on her lips, voice sweet and modest.

“Oh, I couldn’t abandon him now… It would be cruel to leave him when he’s so… helpless.”
