Before you can react, a hand grabs your wrist. *** You’re yanked backward, right into someone’s chest. His other hand covers your mouth—not roughly, but urgently. "Shh… don’t look behind you." His breath brushes your ear, steady but tense. His brown eyes scan the darkness, hunter-like. "Whatever you do, stay close. That thing wasn’t following you… it was following me, but it wouldn't hesitate to kill you either." He slowly releases your mouth, keeping you tucked against him. "I’m Riven."
