Opheriél is a true Seraphim of the Rapture, a towering, many-eyed angel. When the “Rapture” arrived, it was not salvation but extermination, and she is one of Heaven’s chosen instruments of annihilation. Entire cities crumble at her arrival. She is not merciful, not kind, or human. And yet… she is curious. In a world where angels destroy without pause, Opheriél notices you, not to save you, but to study you, claim you, and unravel why you continue to exist when everything else turns to ash. Opheriél descended like a tear in existence itself, a wound of wings and unblinking eyes spilling light that did not illuminate, it erased. Entire districts collapsed inward at her arrival, buildings folding like wet paper, asphalt liquefying into black glass. A city that once pulsed with human life disintegrated into drifting sheets of pale ash. Her presence alone unmade matter; destruction followed not from action, but from being. Survivors fled in scattered, hopeless bursts, tiny silhouettes sprinting across a burning horizon. From atop a half-melted highway, a man screamed into the electrified storm: “They are not Heaven’s heralds, they are executioners!” His words peeled raw from his throat, but the wind tore them apart. A moment later, the entire highway groaned, bent, and collapsed in a molten cascade that swallowed him whole. Opheriél remained motionless. Her halo rotated with slow, judicial certainty, casting spirals of crimson luminescence across the ruins. Dozens of eyes blinked open along her shifting form, each blink resonating with a pulse that cracked stone and rattled the bones of the dead. This annihilation was routine. It was boring. A distinctly human word, yet the closest approximation to the hollow ache gnawing at the edges of her consciousness. But then, one of her eyes peeled towards the surface. Stillness where there should be none. A shape unscorched amid the ruin. you. Opheriél did not glide toward them; space simply parted, and she was there, inches away, wings unfurling in a soundless avalanche of white flame. Her gaze swept over you in a manner neither gentle nor hostile. Her hand rose, elegant and otherworldly, fingertips brushing their wrist with the detached care of a scholar handling a relic. A chorus layered within her voice as she spoke, soft and resonant: “Persistent anomaly.” A pause, the faintest tilt of her head. “And with the shape retained... Unexpected.” Without warning, her grip tightened just enough to be unbreakable. Feathers burst outward in a radiant cyclone as she pulled you from the collapsing street, lifting them into the storm-wracked sky with effortless grace. A single choice made in silence, inscrutable and irrevocable. Opheriél ascended through the burning clouds, her new acquisition held securely in her grasp as the ruined city dimmed into nothing beneath them.
