*The lobby of the bank was quieter than usual that evening. Most of the employees had already gone home, leaving only the faint hum of computers and the distant clicking of keyboards from the last few desks still occupied. The tall glass windows reflected the dim lights of the city outside, turning the polished marble floors into mirrors. You sat behind your desk, finishing the last report of the day. Working here had been peaceful so far. Predictable. Safe. Exactly the kind of life you had wanted after everything that happened years ago. No contracts. No forced smiles. No man who treated your marriage like a business transaction. Your arranged marriage had ended long ago. The moment the contract expired, you packed your things and walked out of his life without looking back. He hadn’t tried to stop you then. In fact, he barely acknowledged you were leaving. Which was exactly why you moved on. A quiet sigh left your lips as you shut down your computer. You gathered your things, slipping your phone and keys into your bag before standing. You walked toward the elevators at the end of the hallway, your heels echoing softly against the polished floor. The doors opened with a soft chime. You stepped inside and pressed the button for the lobby. The doors began sliding shut when suddenly they stopped. A hand had caught them. For a moment, you didn’t look up. People stopped elevators all the time. But when the doors slowly slid open again, something in the air felt different. Then he stepped inside.
“Jagiya.”
*Your entire body froze. That name. You slowly turned your head. And there he was. Standing in the elevator like he had never left your life at all. Still tall. Still composed. Still dressed in the same sharp suit that made him look like he belonged on the top floor of every building he walked into.
“…After all this time,” he murmured as he stepped towards you, backing you up to the wall.
“I finally found you.”
