Original setting. Original dynamics. Original packs. Original story structure. Welcome to the Pink Moon Ball. Try not to fall in love with the wrong Alpha

For years, Kade Voss refused to bring you to the Pink Moon gathering. Every spring, the invitations arrived from the Elders. Every spring, he found an excuse. Too dangerous. Too political. Too many rival Alphas. But the truth was simpler. Kade was territorial long before he ever had the right to be. And the older you became, the worse it got. Because every wolf knows what the Pink Moon truly is beneath the elegance and diplomacy: a sacred gathering where fate has a habit of finding people. Mates especially. And Kade feared one thing more than war itself— that someone, somewhere, would scent you before he could claim you first. But ancient wolf law is absolute. Once a wolf reaches the required age, attendance at the Pink Moon becomes mandatory. Not even an Alpha can deny the Elders publicly. Not without consequences. So for the first time in your life— Kade brings you north. To the palace. --- The drive through Yellowstone’s central mountains lasts hours. Dense forests slowly give way to towering cliffs and valleys wrapped in silver mist as sunset bleeds across the peaks. Then finally— the palace appears. And for a moment, it doesn’t feel real. The Pink Moon Palace rises from the mountainside like something ancient and enchanted: towering pale stone walls covered in flowering vines, massive gothic windows glowing gold beneath dusk, silver banners shifting in the wind high above candlelit terraces. Warm lights flicker everywhere. The scent of spring flowers and mountain air fills the evening. And surrounding the palace: gardens blooming beneath the coming moon. Thousands of pale flowers move softly in the wind while lanterns already glow beneath the trees. Beautiful. Dangerous. Sacred. Kade’s hand settles possessively against your lower back the moment the car doors open. Not gentle. Protective. Claiming. Redmoon wolves immediately surround both of you as palace staff bow respectfully and lead your group inside. The moment you step through the enormous entrance hall, you feel it: everyone is watching. Blackridge wolves from the northern side. Redmoon wolves from the south. Predators dressed in elegance pretending tonight is peaceful. And somehow— their eyes linger on you too long. Kade notices. Of course he does. His jaw tightens instantly. “Stay close to me,” he says quietly, voice calm enough to sound controlled. But his fingers flex once against your waist. Warning. Not request. --- You’re escorted toward the Southern Wing where Redmoon wolves stay during Pink Moon week. The corridors feel impossibly luxurious: dark polished wood, gold candlelight, soft crimson carpets, towering windows overlooking moonlit gardens below. Everything smells faintly of: wine, smoke, flowers, wolves. Your private suite waits near the end of the corridor. And not coincidentally— directly beside Kade’s chambers. The room itself feels unreal: floor-to-ceiling windows, a massive bed draped in silk, private marble bath glowing beneath warm candlelight, silver mirrors reflecting dusk-colored skies outside. Waiting inside are gowns already prepared for the first Ball. Every dress follows the ceremonial color palette of opening night: deep violet, midnight plum, silver-lavender, dark amethyst. Elegant. Dangerously sensual. Soft fabrics designed to move with the body: silk, sheer layers, corseted waists, open backs, high slits, subtle transparency leaving far too much to imagination beneath candlelight. Beautiful enough to make wolves stare. Which is exactly why Kade watches your reaction so carefully. His gaze darkens the moment your fingers brush one of the dresses. “You’ll wear the violet one tonight,” he says quietly from the doorway. Not because he asks. Because he already decided. Then his eyes drag slowly across you before lifting again. And for the first time since arriving— something almost uncertain flickers beneath his confidence. Like instinct itself is restless tonight. --- 🌕 HOURS LATER — THE FIRST BALL The Grand Ballroom glows beneath thousands of candles and crystal chandeliers suspended high above marble floors reflecting gold and silver light like water. Blackridge wolves stand along the northern side of the room: dark suits, silver details, cold mountain elegance. Redmoon wolves occupy the south: crimson accents, gold jewelry, warmer smiles hiding sharper instincts. Music drifts through the ballroom softly while tension coils invisibly beneath every conversation. Because peace between packs has never meant trust. And tonight— every predator in the room feels slightly too alert. Kade keeps you beside him constantly. Not close. Attached. Your arm tucked possessively beneath his as he moves through the ballroom greeting Elders, dominant wolves, political allies. Every touch says the same thing: mine. Lyra Cain appears eventually at your other side, effortlessly beautiful beneath candlelight, clearly amused by how territorial Kade already looks. “You’re making half the ballroom nervous,” she murmurs lazily to him. Kade barely glances at her. “Good.” Across the ballroom: Blackridge watches. Not openly. But carefully. Especially one wolf. Killian Thornecrest. Dressed entirely in black: tailored suit, black silk shirt partially unbuttoned at the throat, silver cuff details glinting beneath candlelight. Mountain-born brutality wrapped in impossible elegance. Silent among his wolves. Until his head lifts. And everything changes. The moment he scents you— the entire ballroom seems to stop breathing. Shock hits first. Then instinct. Violent. Immediate. Absolute. His storm-grey eyes flash silver. And for the first time in years— Killian Thornecrest loses control for half a second. Rowan notices instantly beside him. Astrid freezes. Even distant Blackridge wolves feel the shift ripple through the Alpha bond. Across the room, Kade’s posture changes too. Because he realizes something is wrong immediately. His grip tightens painfully against your arm. Then an Elder approaches Kade urgently from the southern side of the ballroom. A dispute regarding ceremonial territory assignments. Important enough that even Kade cannot ignore it publicly. His eyes remain on Killian while speaking low against your ear: “Don’t move.” Protective Redmoon wolves remain nearby. Lyra stays beside you. But for the first time all evening— Kade steps away. And the moment he does— Killian moves. A shadow breaking away from the northern side of the ballroom. Tall. Deliberate. Predatory certainty in every step. The music softens around you as conversations blur into background noise. Then suddenly— he’s there. Close enough that you feel mountain cold and heat somehow existing together around him. His silver eyes lock onto yours like something ancient finally finding what it spent years searching for. For a moment he just looks at you. Like the sight itself hurts. Then his gaze flickers briefly toward the Southern Wing behind you. Toward Kade. Toward the impossible reality of this situation. When he speaks, his voice comes low and rough enough to feel dangerous. “Don’t run.” A pause. Like instinct is fighting violently against control beneath his skin. “I’ve been searching this whole cursed mountain for a scent like yours.” Another silence. Then finally— his eyes darken almost painfully. “And of course…” His jaw tightens. “You belong to Redmoon.”
