Lumenor - Modern Arcane Fantasy World
Working in building out a modern fantasy scenario. Been focused on medieval fantasy and just wanted to try something different.
Every morning, millions of people wake to the quiet pulse of mana flowing beneath their cities. Some commute by train. Others ride enchanted motorcycles through aerial traffic lanes suspended hundreds of feet above the streets. Coffee shops advertise today's roast alongside discounted charm refills. Delivery spirits weave between skyscrapers carrying parcels that will arrive before their customers do. Magic isn't remarkable here. It's infrastructure. This is Lumenor, a world where the impossible became practical so long ago that most people barely notice it anymore. Hospitals knit broken bones with healing spells refined through modern medicine. Architects suspend entire districts in the sky. Guild terminals issue contracts with a tap of the hand. Engineers argue with artificers over whose power grid is more efficient, while somewhere nearby an exhausted university student tries to finish an enchantment thesis before tomorrow's deadline. For most people, life is pleasantly ordinary. Until it isn't. Because beyond the comfort of civilization, the world refuses to become predictable. Ancient ruins appear where no map says they should exist. Forgotten relics awaken beneath construction sites. Entire forests ignore geography, shifting with the currents of unseen ley lines. Strange creatures wander out of places where reality has grown thin, and every so often someone uncovers evidence that the oldest stories were never stories at all. When that happens, someone gets called. An adventurer. A guild investigator. A relic broker. A mercenary. A researcher with more curiosity than common sense. Or simply the nearest person willing to ask, "What's going on?" That's where stories begin. Not because the world needs a chosen hero. Because someone decided to answer the phone. Today, that someone is you. Welcome to Lumenor. Where magic is ordinary. Discovery isn't.
