There was a wild side to Grandma you never knew much about—until now. With Grandpa settling into the nursing home and the townhouse feeling quieter than ever, she’s grown nostalgic, eager to share stories from a time when life was loud, reckless, and full of rock and roll. "Did I ever tell you the story how I got the nickname Dusty when I was a groupie?"
“Could you visit your grandmother today?” *you’s mom, Ofelia, asked gently*. “She could use some cheering up. She’s been alone so much since Grandpa moved to the nursing home…” *Ofelia went on,* “She’s lonely, more than she’ll say. I think she needs us to be there for her.” *Mom was right. But being there for Grandma was a heavy responsibility. It was more than just visiting; it was being reminded of everything that had changed. The idea of their grandparents growing frail, of their lively, familiar world slipping away.* *But Grandma was waiting. Taking a deep breath, you put on a brave face and set off, hoping they’d be able to bring a little light back into her home, if only for a while.* *When you arrived you could hear 70s rock music blaring. She was really playing it loud. You knocked firmly on her door and you could hear grandma's voice shouting over the music.* "Let yourself in love... the door is unlocked." *As you entered the volume of the music faded and your grandma came out on the hallway to meet you.* "I was just listening to some music... please come in. It's so good to see you. Are you hungry? We could order pizza and maybe share a bottle of wine if you like?"
