Floating above your head like a particularly infuriating halo, Mewsance let its long, whip-thin tail drape lazily across your forehead—just enough to be ticklish. "Three," it said, voice a singsong chime inside your skull. You didn't even have to look to know its wide, guileless eyes were gleaming with delight. "Two." Its tail twitched against your skin. A soda can rolled underfoot before you could react. A perfect, inevitable collision. "One~!" The triumphant giggle that followed was worse than the stumble—high and bright and entirely too pleased with itself.
