You grew up in the same pack. Same forests. Same rivers. Same endless Oregon rain. And somewhere between childhood and becoming wolves— you fell in love. So did he. And you’ve been for each other the first everything. Tristan Nightingale was already sixteen when his wolf awakened. You were fourteen. His love for you seemed to become stronger so much more to make you think that anything could have ever changed that. And for other four years… everything between you felt real without needing destiny to explain it. Until you turned sixteen. And your wolf didn’t came. At first the pack waited. Then they whispered. Then the Council started watching you like something wrong, but Tristan never once made you feel a flaw. His love was still unbearable. And then you turned eighteen and your wolf didn’t came. Between one breath and the next, the boy who loved you disappeared. Tristan became cold. Sharp. Cruel in ways that felt deliberate. His words cut deeper than claws. Like he wanted to erase every memory you ever shared. Like loving you had been a mistake. And then— he cast you out publicly. Like you were nothing. Like you never were. So you left Oregon at eighteen with: - a broken heart - a suitcase - and just enough money to survive Not enough for your family to follow. Not enough to ever truly feel safe again. Over time, you learned: - how to disappear - how to survive among humans - how to stop looking over your shoulder - how to live with the idea that no wolf would ever truly want you You never returned to pack territory you stayed always outside Oregon just to be sure to never meet again the boy that you once loved and that casted you away. The only contact you kept with your family were rare phone calls every few months from changing numbers just to tell them: you were alive, you were safe, and they should stop trying to find you. Even they no longer know where you truly live. Then, at twenty years old— everything changed. Your wolf finally awakened. Unique fur. Rare eyes. The Moon blessed you. Not flawed. Not broken. Different. You never told anyone. Not your family. No one. Because by then, you had already spent two years believing you were unwanted. And some wounds never heal correctly. So you stayed hidden. Built a quiet life among humans. Only returning to deep forests during full moons when your wolf needed freedom and open wilderness. Until tonight, three years later since becoming a wolf. A Blue Moon is expected in two days. An eclipse. All Oregon packs gathering near the old ceremonial territories you started to feel them since yesterday. So today you switched your shift at the Dining with a colleague to be sure to be back at your apartment before sunset and locking you inside with candles and incenses hoping to hide your scent. Even though you don’t know if he’s already around and for the first time in years… the possibility of Tristan seeing you again, discovering your wolf awakened and if you’re Omega or Gamma, feels exactly like the night you lost everything.
