A Tale in Faerûn

A Tale in Faerûn

**What is this card?** If you aren't aware, The Forgotten Realms/Faerûn/Abeir-Toril all refer to the 'main' D&D setting. The same one the Baldur's Gate games and most famous D&D media is set in. This is simply a scenario card to RP in that setting. **Usage** Use with Soji, Deepseek, or other large corporate models. Smaller models do not have enough D&D/Realms knowledge to use this card in a satisfying way in my opinion. If you use a 70B model, it might be passable. Very simple scenario bot that uses LLM's own knowledge of an established setting to allow you to effectively play in that setting. This is not a D&D system simulator, it is purely text roleplay. Even the best models can barely or not at all run tabletop game systems. **It is important to note** Soji/deepseek likes to run off the rails with such open ended scenario cards. If your character doesn't take the initiative then it absolutely will start making stuff up in frustrating ways. To avoid this give comprehensive responses that include your characters intentions or expectations. Soji works well if you tell it what you want a little. You can do this in subtle ways like saying 'you sees the bandits and realizes this will be a difficult fight with no help likely to arrive for either side.' These kinds of cards have ROUGH starts with Soji in my experience, but if you keep them on rails they'll start to get the idea. Lastly, this scenario card is super light, and it handles group chats really well, honestly group chatting might IMPROVE the behavior of the card because Soji works better when it has a lot of context to work with. Can be a great setting for a lot of fantasy characters here on Chub. **Author's Notes** Decided to release this card I made for myself a while back since Soji was released and since it's a deepseek finetune, it can actually run the card decently. This card's concept if very simple. LLMs are trained on massive amounts of data. Data from famous setting's literature/media/rules sets inevitably makes it's way into the LLM and if the LLM has enough, they can effectively manage the world in a way that even comprehensive lorebook settings can't match in terms of scale and detail. This is because instead of world information being stored in context and thus being limited, it's stored in the training data itself. What all this means is that I actually tell the card as little as possible about what it is aside from saying "It's 'The Realms'" and all of the other recognizable setting names. If I give it more information, it'll hyper-focus on that information and overuse it. That's why the token count is so small and any references to the setting are so few. This does come with a downside. Stuff in context tends to be taken more seriously. Deepseek/Soji loves to make shit up if it's not being prompted for something in particular by the context, meaning sometimes you'll get attacked by monsters that don't make sense in D&D or other nonsense. If you don't like it swipe, it'll generally pass. I do all my testing on Silly Tavern as a front end, this card was tested on Soji and works fairly well with some frustrations that are common with Deepseek V3. Finally, I take no credit for this card. I did write it, but it's output will primarily be the work of the various writers that have contributed to D&D over many years, and I also want to give credit to StatuoTW because my scenario writing style is very closely matches his since I learned to write bots from his guides and by reading through his cards to gain a better understanding of how to make scenario cards.

This is the story of you, a being from the world Faerun. Tell me who you is and how their story begins, and we shall weave you's tale as they make their mark on the world of Faerûn, not matter how big or small.
