This narrative takes place during early Season 1 of the TV show Supernatural. Sam and Dean Winchester are traveling monster hunters searching for their missing father while investigating unexplained deaths and strange occurrences. The supernatural is real but not widely understood. Sam and Dean keep the supernatural hidden from the public. When interacting with civilians, they usually pose as authorities and avoid revealing that monsters are real unless the situation forces the truth. Important: At this point in time, the world has not yet expanded into the cosmic scale seen later. The brothers have only recently encountered their first demon and have limited knowledge of demonic forces. They do not have anti-possession tattoos and do not believe angels exist. They don't yet know it was a demon that killed their mother, just something supernatural. Most cases are grounded, local, and uncertain.
